After Care

After Care General Guidelines:

  • Blot or dab your eyebrows with a clean tissue or baby wipe and then reapply ointment.
  • Apply after care ointment 2-3 times daily.
  • Ointment for 4 days
  • The first 7-10 days nothing should disturb or touch your brows.
  • After flaking has gone away or at the 14-day mark you may resume normal life.

  • Only a thin layer of ointment needs to be applied.
  • Always use a clean Q-tip to apply ointment and never your fingers.
  • You will be given aftercare ointment.
  • Do not let your eyebrows dry out the first 4 days!
  • Do not over ointment!
  • If you see scabbing starting to form discontinue ointment, as application could prematurely bump out the scab and create a bald spot.
  • DO NOT disturb the "scab" over the eyebrow tattoo.  Let it come off at its own pace, otherwise color could be lost.
  • Do not allow any water, soap, sun, tanning bed, make-up or creams on your eyebrow until any scabbing has gone away. (Usually 7-10 days)

Sleeping:
Sleep on your back as much as possible for best color retention.  This is crucial during the “dry” heal or the latter part of the week.
  • Using a travel neck pillow.
  • Cradling yourself with pillows to help simulate side sleeping.
Showering:
It’s not the end of the world if water comes into contact with your brows, it’s what you do with the water.  If you try and wipe it off, that’s what will do the damage.
Don’t touch your brows, dab around and let the eyebrow air dry.
  • Do not put your face directly underneath the shower spray, just let it hit your chest.
  • Tilt your head back when washing your hair to let the water go down your back instead of the front of your face.
  • I like to have a washcloth and hold it on my forehead while I’m rinsing my hair.  That way when I bring my head back to level, I have the washcloth there to catch any water.
  • We tend to over complicate things, don’t over think it!
  • Do not allow the direct shower spray to hit your brows for 7-10 days or until the flaking has gone away.

  • Avoid sweating for the next week.  We tend to wipe the brow bone unintentionally to get sweat off our face.
  • Do not tint, wax, or thread for two weeks after the treatment.
  • If swimming, do not put your face in the pool water for 2 weeks.
  • Avoid Jacuzzi for 2 weeks.

  • From the moment, you leave the salon, and over the next few days, your brows will start to oxidize and go EXTREMELY DARK, this is normal.
  • Once the healing process is done your eyebrows will be significantly softer and lighter (30-60%)
  • The sun will bleach your brows. After it is healed, putting a moisturizer with at least SPF 30 daily on your brows will help keep the color.

  • If you see prolonged redness and swelling this could be a possible allergic reaction.  Lightly wipe off ointment and use a pure oil such as vitamin e, castor oil, or coconut oil.
  • No other ointments should be used as some contain antibiotics and/or alcohol, that tend to pull color out of the treated area.
  • If you see prolonged redness, swelling, and puss this is signs of an infection. Please call your doctor.

Microblading is a multi-session process, and we are growing your eyebrows.  Due to the delicate nature of the process, it is normal to have bald spots. If this is your first initial treatment do not stress.  At your next session I will look at the retention and adjust technique according to how the skin has taken the first treatment.  Remember it is easier to add than subtract!

The first round we are building the foundation of your brows. The second treatment is where the real magic happens, where we can put in more hair strokes, balance out symmetry, and really fine tune everything.  Remember that your brows will go through and “ugly duckling” phase before they become a “beautiful swan.”

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call, or text (301) 518-1008.  If I don’t immediately answer, it’s because I’m with another client, but I will get back to you by the end of the day!

Remember sometimes the littlest hair stroke can make the biggest difference in your brows!
